Went thru the inlet at 7:00 A.M. Started putting lines in at 80′ looking for a kingfish or two. After 2 cuda’s we headed east. As we worked our way out we found a small weed line in 150′. Worked that for a little while with no luck. Headed out to 170′ and after a few minutes the shotgun line starts screaming. After a pretty long fight we have a nice Wahoo [approx 25 lb.] in the box. rerig and keep working the area. Another 45 min. go by and then another knockdown. Another cuda. Had a newbee at the wheel and somehow got a line wrapped around the prop on the port engine . Still don’t know how this happened. While this is going on the line that is wrapped up gets hit by a small shark. Hand line that one in and release it. Then had to shut the engines down and jump in to unwrap the line. Problem now solved and it’s back to fishing. Keep pulling the 170′ – 180′ area bot no more action. Decided to troll our way back in to 80 ft. Get to 135′ and the downrigger goes off. After a short fight another Wahoo [approx. 25 lb.]in the box. Rerig and keep trolling back to 80′ with no more action. time to pick up and head to the dock.
Totals for the day 3 cuda’s, 1 shark, 2 wahoo.
