Florida Keys Deep Drop Fishing Spots Rating

Deep Drop and Swordfish GPS fishing spots coverage details

The lower Florida Keys deep drop and Swordfish GPS spots covers overall depths from 600 feet to 1700 feet of water, here’s the breakdown. These GPS spots are located 20-30 miles offshore depending on which inlet you leave from.

  • Swordfish spots. Most Swordfish locations reside in 1400-1600 ft. as we all know most daytime Swordfish are caught along the 1500 ft depth contour where ledges press deep water baits and squid up to a ledge or drop off. These extreme depths offer excellent habitat for Swordfish in certain locations where squid roam the ocean floor during the daytime then move westward to shallower water at night.
  • Deep Drop bottom fishing spots. The deep drop fishing spots of the lower keys can produce Queen Snapper, Barrelfish, Tilefish and other deep water exotic fish. Most of these deep water locations for bottom fishing reside in 900 ft – 1200 ft of water. Although, there are several mud bottom locations for Tilefish in 600 ft as well.
